Description
In preparation for ITS management of College-issued Apple devices (Macs, iPhones, iPads) to improve user experience and data security, all Apple Accounts (formerly Apple ID) created by individuals using Douglas College email addresses will need to be changed to a personal email address. This applies even if you do not use a College-issued Apple device.
If you do not use a Douglas College employee or student email address as your Apple Account email, no action is required.
Step-by-step guide
Please follow these steps provided by Apple Support: Change your Apple Account primary email address
Note: Apple recommends doing this through your iPhone or other trusted device.
You are affected by this, if when signing into iCloud (https://www.icloud.com/), you encounter this message:

Target audience
Employees and students who have used their Douglas College email addresses as primary email for a personal Apple Account.
FAQ
Why is ITS doing this?
ITS needs to ensure that all Apple Accounts created using Douglas College email addresses are managed and controlled by the College in order to manage and secure College-issued Apple devices, such as deploying apps licensed by the College and configuring devices to secure data associated with these accounts.
But I’m using a College-issued Apple device (iPhone, MacBook, etc.). Aren’t I supposed to use my College-issued employee email address?
An email address serves only as a unique identifier (every email address is unique) and a way for Apple to verify that you have access to that email account. It does not mean your Apple Account or device is managed or secured by IT Services.
Apple Accounts are managed by IT Services only if IT Services provides you with an Apple Account and not when you’ve signed up for one yourself.
I already have a personal Apple Account. Can I just transfer my Douglas' Apple Account to that one?
No, it’s not possible to transfer to an existing Apple Account. It has to be a personal email account that has NOT been previously used as an Apple Account.
What if I don’t have anything I need to save or keep from the Apple Account I created using College email?
Then no action is required. Douglas College will simply reclaim the account once the deadline passes. You will still have access to your Apple Account.
What if I missed the deadline to change emails? Did I lose all my data and purchases?
Not at all. If you don’t act within 30 days, Apple automatically assigns a temporary email address to your account. It looks something like:
yourname-company.com@temporary.appleaccount.com
Apple will notify you of this new address. You can then sign in with the temporary address and change it to your preferred personal email. It just requires a few extra steps.
Once I change my email address, can I continue to download or buy apps from the App Store as before?
Yes, you can. However, any app purchased with your current (personal) Apple Account will NOT be transferable to ITS-managed Apple Accounts to be used at the College in the future.
