NetSupport Reference Guide

Purpose:

This document provides a quick reference for using NetSupport software to manage and monitor student lab computer activities. The software is installed on all lab computers.

The official reference and user guide for all functions and their detailed explanation can be found in Using NetSupport School. Below is a quick guide to the most commonly used functions.

How to:

Connect to Net Support

  • Log in to your account. On the desktop, locate the NetSupport icon:

 

 

 

  • Double-click the icon and select the first option.

  • Exit the program by clicking X in the top-right corner. A confirmation message will appear - click Yes to exit the program.

Key Functions

  • Lock/Unlock: This is to lock or unlock the student's mouse, keyboard and workstations at any time. How it looks like when it is locked and unlocked:

  • Blank All: The Blank All function blacks out all student screens. Click it again to restore their displays.

  • Show Screen: You can display your desktop on student computers using multiple options:

When you show your desktop to clients, if at any point you wish to suspend or stop, you can find the icon below, double-click to suspend sharing your desktop.

Choose to end the show, resume, continue or if you no longer need to show your desktop. “End” tab will end the show function.

NetSupport provides a web control module that allows you to monitor and restrict website access for students. Instructors can approve or block specific websites and suspend Internet access if needed.
