If your computer is operating on an older version of Windows 10, Microsoft requires it to be upgraded to the latest version, 22H2, by June 11, 2024. IT Services will be performing an in-place upgrade on computers running older versions of Windows 10 outside of business hours in the coming months. Please note, the in-place upgrade will NOT remove your existing applications and data on your computer.
For your convenience, you have the option to initiate the in-place upgrade to avoid an unscheduled interruption. Note that the upgrade can take from 30 to 90 minutes to complete, and the computer will reboot several times. You can use the following instructions to initiate the in-place upgrade:
- Open Software Center on your computer. You can use the search bar on the taskbar to search for it. You can also find it by opening the Start Menu and navigating to Microsoft Endpoint Manager > Software Center.
- Once in Software Center, click on the Operating Systems tab located on the left-hand side.
- Look for the upgrade item labeled W10E-22H2-Upgrade and click on it to open.
- Once open, click on the blue Install button.
- A pop-up will appear, asking you to confirm whether you want to upgrade the operating system. Click on the blue Install button to confirm.
- The progress bar for the upgrade will appear. When the progress reaches 100%, your computer will reboot several times. You may continue working until the computer begins rebooting.
After rebooting, your computer will have Windows 10 version 22H2 installed.
