Description
Douglas College licensing enables students and employees to take advantage of Microsoft’s Enterprise data protection (EDP) when using Microsoft Copilot. When EDP is enabled, interactions with Copilot will not be shared or added to Microsoft’s AI training data and potentially shared with everyone in the world.

An icon will show when EDP is enabled. Microsoft regularly changes the EDP icon but commonly it looks like these examples:

Enabling EDP in Microsoft Edge
- In Microsoft Edge, sign in with your Douglas College email
- Click the Copilot button
- Confirm you see the EDP icon.

Enabling EDP on the Copilot website
If you prefer to use Copilot in your browser (Chrome/Firefox/Safari), you can find it at https://Copilot.microsoft.com/. Before using Copilot on the web, make sure to sign into it using your Douglas College email then select “Work” for a secure and compliant Copilot.
- Click "Sign In" on the top right if you are not already signed in.
- Click on "Work".
- Confirm you see the EDP icon.

Windows 11
Newer versions of Windows 11 have Copilot built in; you should automatically be signed in to your Douglas account when accessing Copilot through a work computer.
- To access Copilot on Windows 11, type "Copilot" in the search bar at the bottom then select "Copilot".
- Sign in to Copilot in the new window if you are not signed in already.
- Click on “Work” to open Copilot with EDP.

Please note: Accessing Copilot through Windows 11 may lead you to the browser version. The browser version will usually have EDP enabled if you are signed in to your Douglas College email. Please verify by checking the EDP icon.
